Buying from the driver costs a euro more on every ticket: €1.30 outside the bus against €2.30 on it in the inner zone, and €1.80 against €2.80 in the outer one. There is a kiosk at the airport stop and it is worth the walk.

Hours
The airport bus departure station is staffed from 05:30 to 21:00, but line 06 runs until 00:30. A late arrival will find buses still running and nobody to sell a ticket, so the driver's higher fare is the only option.

Easy to get wrong
The city lists intercity routes as running "Heraklion - Airport - Agios Nikolaos", but the intercity operator publishes no airport departure times and does not sell the airport as a starting point. For anywhere east, the airport bus is the first leg and the central bus station is where the journey really begins.
