    The train station is not at the terminal: the automated SkyTrain cabin railway connects the terminals to the train station in about seven minutes, running every 5 to 7 minutes from 3:45 a.m. to 0:45 a.m. — budget for that leg on top of the train journey.

  • Easy to get wrong

    Two different rail products serve the same station: the U80 light rail runs direct to Düsseldorf Hauptbahnhof in about 18 minutes (every 20 minutes, 30 at off-peak and on Sundays), while numerous separate S-Bahn and even ICE services also call there — reading the wrong departure board mixes up very different journey times.

  • Status

    The airport's own page states plainly that numerous regional and long-distance trains, ranging from S-Bahn to ICE, stop daily at Düsseldorf Flughafen station, but does not publish a single fixed journey time for the S11 leg into the Hauptbahnhof — sources outside the airport's own site put it at 12 to 13 minutes.
