The West Coast Line's own Wikipedia entry confirms long-distance trains operated by SJ AB and Vy run the route, with VR Snabbtåg Sverige also running seasonally (summer months) - so the operator mix on this specific corridor is not fixed year-round and should be checked against the season being booked.

Easy to get wrong
Snälltåget's Malmö-Gothenburg-Oslo day service (daily from 15 June 2026 per its own site) genuinely stops in both Gothenburg and Malmö on one continuous working, unlike its Stockholm services which route via Copenhagen and do not reach Gothenburg directly - the two Snälltåget product lines should not be conflated when checking for a direct Gothenburg-Malmö option.
