Easy to get wrong
GWR runs 2 fast trains per hour to Paddington via Reading, while Chiltern Railways runs 2 trains per hour to Marylebone via Oxford Parkway and High Wycombe that are explicitly slower - Oxford's own station article states the Chiltern service is 'slower than the fast Great Western Railway services to London Paddington', so picking a ticket by price alone can mean a materially longer ride.

Status
The Chiltern Marylebone route via Oxford Parkway only began running on 11 December 2016 - it is a genuinely newer alternative to the historic GWR route, not a rebrand of it.
