Before you land

The parts people get wrong. Each one links to where we checked it.

  • Where to go

The airport has its own Cercanías station: the airport page lists "Access to RENFE local trains" among the stops at the terminal, so there is no shuttle or transfer between the terminal and the platform.

  • Easy to get wrong

Málaga has two central stops on line C-1 and they are not the same place. María Zambrano, 8 minutes away, is the mainline station where the AVE high-speed trains leave from; Málaga Centro-Alameda, 12 minutes away, is the one in the old town.

  • Tickets

The Express Line is paid for on board, by Visa or Mastercard or in cash, and a single ticket costs €4. Luggage is carried free.

  • Where to go

The Express Line stop is on Floor 0 at Arrivals — the same level you walk out onto, on the outside of the terminal.

  • Before you board

Renfe requires the ticket to be validated at the turnstiles or validating machines of both the departure and the arrival station. A passenger who does not is charged the full network fare rather than the zone fare.
