Easy to get wrong
There is NO direct train from Manchester Airport to London - TransPennine Express's own service pattern from the airport runs to Redcar Central, Carlisle, Edinburgh or Glasgow, and Northern runs to Blackpool/Lancaster/Liverpool/Crewe; a London traveller must change at Manchester Piccadilly or take Avanti West Coast from Piccadilly separately, not assume a through airport-to-London train exists.

Status
Wikipedia's own article on the station notes future additional services are in doubt because of capacity constraints on the single-track sections of the Styal line branch - the current eight-trains-per-hour figure to Piccadilly should not be assumed to keep growing.
