Hours
The FEX Airport Express runs 24/7, every 15 minutes between roughly 4 a.m. and 1 a.m., reaching Berlin Hauptbahnhof in about 23 minutes; the RE20 covers the same run hourly from 4 a.m. to 9 p.m. as a second, slower-frequency option.

Easy to get wrong
Two S-Bahn lines, S9 and S85, also call at BER every 20 minutes, but they are local trains stopping far more often than the FEX and are not the fastest way into the centre — travellers picking the first S-Bahn they see over the FEX add real time to the trip.

Status
From the December 2026 timetable change the FEX moves onto the newly upgraded Dresdner Bahn route, which is expected to shorten and stabilise the journey further and increase how often FEX and RE20 run together.
