most services require a same-platform change of train at Mallow onto the connecting Tralee-bound service; one direct Dublin Heuston-Tralee through-service (calling at Killarney) also runs -- do not assume every departure is a single through-train

Easy to get wrong
Most Dublin-Killarney journeys are not a single through-train: passengers on the Cork mainline change at Mallow onto the connecting Mallow-Tralee service, which calls at Killarney before continuing to its own terminus.
Irish Rail's own timetable structure lists Cork Kent-Tralee (via Killarney) as its own route page separate from the Dublin Heuston-Cork mainline, consistent with a change of train at Mallow for most Dublin departures.
