Sprinter trains call at Amsterdam Lelylaan and Sloterdijk on the way in, while Intercity and Intercity Direct services run straight through to Centraal without those stops - either family of train reaches Centraal, so waiting specifically for an Intercity is not necessary if a Sprinter is about to leave.
